THE PURCHASING PROCESSES
Engaging with a knowledgeable cattle breeder can play a crucial role in guiding buyers through the process of purchasing and owning cattle.

PURCHASING CATTLE GUIDE
Caring for cattle requires a thorough understanding of their needs, including proper nutrition, water access, grazing space, and health management. Providing the right environment ensures their well-being, improves productivity, and promotes sustainable farming.
We’ve summarized the key requirements to ensure you’re fully prepared to raise healthy, thriving cattle.

PRE-PURCHASE
SELECTING YOUR CATTLE
You are welcome to visit our property and personally select your cows, heifers or steers. If visiting isn’t convenient, we can facilitate the selection process by video chat.
Both options allow you – and, most importantly, the cattle – to avoid the stress of the sale yard auction process.
Veterinary & Welfare Care
- All cattle undergo independent assessment and receive a temperament score from 1 to 5, with 1 being the most docile.
- All cattle undergo a comprehensive welfare check, including screening for diseases such as pink eye and three-day sickness.
- All animals receive 7-in-1 vaccinations and a Cydectin drench, a pour-on treatment for ticks, lice, mites, and worms. Importantly, Cydectin does not harm dung beetles.
- Cattle are independently graded* for:
- Bow leg or cow-hocked stance
- Hoof deformities
- Udder issues
* Only cattle scoring within the industry standard range of 4–6 will be sold.
LEGAL OBLIGATIONS
- All our cattle are tagged with an NLIS device.
- We will complete the NVD form to transfer the cattle to your Property Identification Code (PIC).
- If you provide Visual Identification ear tags, we can affix them before transport from our farm.
POST-PURCHASE
CARE MANUAL
We provide you with a useful manual outlining aspects such as:
- A temperament report rating your purchased animals – on request.
- What To Do Guide for when your cattle arrive.
- A list of common information such as grasses to avoid, and cattle ailments – their identification, cure and prevention.
- Explanations and contacts for legal requirements associated with keeping and selling cattle.
Delivery
Transportation of the cattle is at the expense of the buyer. You may collect your cattle from our holding yards by prior arrangement.
For an additional fee, we can arrange third-party delivery of your cattle to your property.

BUYER RESPONSIBILITIES
Buyers are responsible for ensuring they have the knowledge and resources to properly care for their cattle. We strongly recommend seeking advice from an agronomist or other trusted experts before purchasing.
Once cattle are loaded onto the transport vehicle, they become the full responsibility of the new owner, including their health, welfare, and ongoing management.
For small herds, regular veterinary checks are essential to maintaining their well-being.
